Tema: Fraternidade e Políticas Públicas
Lema: “Serás libertado pelo direito e pela justiça” (Is 1, 27)
Lent is the spiritual “journey” that prepares us for the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. For this reason, we need to be willing to take the challenge through 40 days of intense prayer, fasting and almsgiving (charity). The Lenten season which starts on Ash Wednesday and goes all the way to Palm Sunday, brings us (the Church) the sense that it is possible to resist the temptations of the world and concentrate solely in the steps of the life of Christ. The temptations of selfishness, power and greed are always lurking, but with Christ, we can overcome them and be a new person in Him.
Our model of society is based on consumerism and appearances. As we supply these necessities, we sacrifice the ONE house that belongs to all of us. Caring for our home is a commitment that should not be taken by the Catholic Church alone, but by all people of good will.

Oração da Campanha da Fraternidade
Pai misericordioso e compassivo,
que governais o mundo com justiça e amor,
dai-nos um coração sábio para reconhecer a presença do vosso Reino entre nós.
Em sua grande misericórdia, Jesus,
o Filho amado, habitando entre nós
testemunhou o vosso infinito amor
e anunciou o Evangelho da fraternidade e da paz.
Seu exemplo nos ensine a acolher
os pobres e marginalizados, nossos irmãos e irmãs
com políticas públicas justas,
e sejamos construtores de uma sociedade humana e solidária.
O divino Espírito acenda em nossa Igreja
a caridade sincera e o amor fraterno;
a honestidade e o direito resplandeçam em nossa sociedade
e sejamos verdadeiros cidadãos do “novo céu e da nova terra”
Amém.
