A Rose for Emily

A Rose for Emily is a gothic short story by William Faulkner set in the 1850’s.

Emily Grierson, the protagonist, is the only daughter of a once-prominent family of the Old South who plans to marry Homer Barron, a construction worker, but the wedding never materializes because Barron is not “the marrying kind”. Torn by this sad realization, she eventually kills him with arsenic and keeps the corpse in the house for about 40 years until her death, as a way of keeping him faithful to her.

The 9th Grade students wrote a script as an answer to the question:

“What if she had been caught before dying? What would have happened?”

The result was that 9A and 9B ended up with different resolutions to the short story. Below are the photos of their performance.
