We are celebrating HALLOWEEN this month! It is a national festival celebrated each year in the UnitedStates on October 31. It takes place the day before all Saints Day. Children wear costumes on this dayand dress like witches, ghosts, pumpkins, etc. Special games are played at Halloween, such as bobbingfor apples and fortune telling and ghost stories.

The Irish have a tale about the origin of the Jack-O’-Lantern. They say that a man named Jack was unableto enter heaven because of his bad behavior. He could not enter hell because he had played jokes onthe devil. So he had to walk the earth with his lantern until Judgment Day.

The Druids, an order of priests in ancient Gaul and Britain, believed that on Halloween, ghosts, spirits, fairies, witches and elves came out to harm people. They thought that cats had once been humanbeings, but were changed as a punishment for evil deeds. From these Druid’s beliefs comes the presentdayuse of witches, ghosts and bats in Halloween festivities. The children should come in their costumes for Halloween on Saturday, October 24. A costumeparade for Preschool and Elementary students will be held, so...use your imagination!!

Elementary students will also present some dances in groups.

Please, do not forget to prepare yourchild’s costume!
