2015 Awards Ceremony

This year's Elementary Teacher of the Year Award goes to an outstanding member of the OLM community - Ms. Ana Laura D' Alterio. She has been part of this family for over 2 decades now, and in many different roles as well. She has been a student, a resource center teacher, an English teacher, and a mother. Her positive attitude towards work is contagious. She maintains good communication skills with parents, students and peers. She uses humor and music to get students engaged, and helps them perform at their best through clear and precise instruction. She gives students constant positive feedback while giving them room for individualized learning allowing them to take part in the decision making process of what goes on in the classroom. On a totally different note, her hair style is one of her best features that seems to attract student interest and constant, very careful monitoring. She has her own way of caring pencils and pens around school, making her a very distinguished personality among our staff members. She sets the trends. It's is clear to all that work with her, and for the students who are in her class that Ana Laura D'Alterio loves both her profession and her students! Keep Calm, and Rock on!

Ms. France, or Ms. Paris, as she is often referred to is this year's honored Elementary sub-teacherShe has been with us for a couple of years and within this short time has performed miracles. Students love and count on her. They all look up at her with love and care, this person who is as big as her heart. She is sweet yet firm, like a mother.

Like all mothers, she always has more space in her heart for more students.

2015 Awards Ceremony Cocktail

This year's OLM High School Honor Teacher truly shows in a multitude of ways why they have been selected.  For example, from a courteous professional, to commitment and dedication to OLM students, or from a complete willingness to "jump in" when needed, this person fits the bill.   When seniors were finishing up their thesis program and in need of the right touch of grammar or when the school as a whole needed a Grammy award type performance for our school musical, this person rose to the occasion.  Not only a valuable addition to the high school team, but a wonderful person who has been added to our OLM family.  I am pleased to call her my colleague, so please come up for your well-deserved recognition Ms. Roseli Lima!

To start, this decision is certainly not an easy one for any one panel to make when you consider the staff that we are blessed to have here at OLM.  However, as the discussion began, this individual was clearly looked at as the "go-to" person for not only students, but staff and even the administration.  Bringing a clearly recognizable energy and a continual focus on reaching new academic heights, this person began to separate themselves from the pack.  If you consider the type of preparation that this individual provides people here at OLM, then you need not look only at OLM students.  Incidentally, and worth noting, this person's students last year had a 100 percent AP pass rate with four 5s and three 4s.  Now considering the impact on fellow staff members, which is also equally worth noting, this person has been a mentor to one OLM superintendent and three academic supervisors all of who have come from the content area under this individual's coordination.  With seemingly so much spare time, this teacher helped lead a group of OLM students to garnering international acclaim through a competition that included schools from around the world and saw OLM place first and second respectively over the last two years.

Clearly not afraid of competition, but always willing to help not only her students, but fellow staff members and the OLM administration, it is with honor that I call Ms. Beth Freire to the stage as OLM Teacher of the Year for 2015!

The 2015 Middle School Honor Teacher epitomizes the values of hard work, dedication, and commitment.  Her students love her not only because of her genuine care for their well-being, but also because she holds them to high standards, expecting them to be their best, both academically and as persons.  Her persistence and concern for her students has enabled her to transcend obstacles and challenges, always giving her students the best of herself despite sometimes less than ideal conditions.  In prior years she has wrestled with error-ridden and poorly supported educational software.   This year she has taught in olm’s smallest, darkest classroom which is equipped with the school’s oldest, tiniest laptops…and she has done so with unwavering grace and dignity.  Please join me in congratulating our 2015 middle school honor teacher Ms. Renata Ghiotti.

The teacher chosen for Honor Helper this year is dedicated not only to the children but also to working together with the classroom teacher. She has excellent English. She likes to take courses in education to enrich her knowledge, both in Brazil and abroad. As Supervisor, I would like to highlight her daily growth as a school professional, her dedication, her patience and constant observation of students. It is easy to perceive her joy in working with early childhood children.  She has an excellent relationship with her classroom partner. It’s a pleasure to present Mariana Maciel de Sá as Honor Helper of 2015.

The Honor Preschool Teacher of this year is interested to learn all about education.  She usually chooses courses  and seminars for her enrichment as an educator and that help her resolve difficulties she observes in class. She is very interested and dedicated in her work since she started at OLM. She is smart and knows how to use special resources in class.  She is kind and supportive in her meetings with parents and she likes to help her colleagues as well. She is a lovely and caring person with all and she watches her students with special attention.  She works very well with her Teacher Aid and Assistant.

It’s a pleasure to present to you our 2014 Preschool Honor Teacher Ms. Anna Carolina Benchimol.

This year's  special teacher among the specials is one of HUGE spirituality and commitment to God and her neighbors. In the elementary, who teaches the  kids to love God with their hearts and minds? who prepares the most beautiful celebrations that delight the ones attending them? Who teaches the kids the first prayers, prepares for the sacraments and gives witness  of the true love that God made man in Jesus christ taught humanity? Who teaches the kids the true Christian values and understands their most challenging doubts, and is still there for them?

This teacher has always loved her profession and has done it as a  response to God's call for her. She teaches everyone to be obedient to God and his kingdom, and in sadness, teaches all to stick to the faith. In everything that she does, God is with her. For this reason, OLM recognizes  this most blessed teacher, Ms Ana Gisela Duniec.
