The Irish have a tale about the origin of the Jack-O’-Lantern. They say that a man named Jack was unable to enter heaven because of his bad behavior. He could not enter hell because he had played jokes on the devil! So he had to walk the earth with his lantern until Judgment Day.
The Druids and the order of priests in ancient Gaul and Britain believed that on Halloween, ghosts, spirits, and witches and came out to haunt people, fairies and elves to charm them. From these Druid’s beliefs comes the present-day use of witches, ghosts and bats in Halloween festivities.
The children should come in their costumes for Halloween on Saturday, October, 26th. They are usually dressed as witches, goblins, elves, etc. We will be having a costume parade and dance presentations of our students so...use your imagination!!
Do not forget to prepare your child’s costume!
