CORPUS CHRISTI TAPESTRY
"Love becomes concrete with service."
Having graduated a few weeks ago, we have realized what an essential role OLM has had in our lives. It taught us that it is not only important to fulfill our own desires, but also to serve others and assist in their endeavors.
Last Thursday, on Corpus Cristi, Brother Franz invited us to be a part of the tradition and create our own "tapete de sal" to honor the holiday. The OLM students Luiza Osorio ('14), Sara Hernandez ('14), Ana Luiza Ferrer ('14), Isabela Larangeira ('14), and Mariana Ferrer ('16) joined the other volunteers of SOMAR and worked together, resulting in one of the prettiest creations. We greatly enjoyed the experience of working in a group and witnessing one of the most special traditions of the Catholic Church.

Alunos - Seniors da OLM - voluntários de Solidariedade em Marcha (SOMAR) participaram da confecção de tapetes pela festa do Corpus Christi na catedral de São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro no último dia 19 de junho.
Por causa da chuva os tapetes que seriam elaborados na avenida em frente à Catedral tiveram que ser confeccionados dentro dos corredores da própria Catedral.
Todos os anos, para testemunhar publicamente a adoração e a veneração para com a Santíssima Eucaristia, em muitas cidades é costume ornamentar o chão por onde passa a procissão do Corpus Christi com tapetes coloridos e desenhos de inspiração religiosa. Os tapetes são elaborados com areia, serragem, sal, pó de café, flores entre outros.
O tapete de SOMAR foi elogiado como um dos mais bonitos e criativos da procissão.
