Based on the book "Festa no Céu" , wrote by Ana Maria Machado,
PreNursery students were introduced to the unit "Festa na Floresta".
The project began with the teacher reading the book to her students.
Then, a white board with a laminated illustration of each character was provided. This enabled students to literally handle the characters, and also retell the story in a fun and playful way.
Later several art techniques, appropriate for the age group, were presented with the objective of helping students to make the story characters themselves.
The initial idea was to prepare the classroom board with the students' art work. However as all students were involved in the project and had great fun making their characters, teachers decided to allow each child to make their own board to be taken home, so they could share the story with their families.
