Meet the Teacher

Dear OLM family,

My name is Roseli de Lima, I am the new 9th and 10th grade English teacher. I have two adorable children, Natália, 8 years old and Pedro Henrique, who’s just turned 5. My children are also part of the OLM family now and we are really excited about the school!  I was born and brought up in Niterói, just across the bridge.

My career as an English teacher began when I started studying English in a language course and at the end of every class my classmates would gather around me and ask me to reteach them what the teacher had just explained. I stayed in that course for one semester and decided to learn the language on my own.

I was a self-teacher for the most part until I got to UFF, Universidade Federal Fluminense, where I got a degree in Language and Literature, then went on and got a Specialization degree in Portuguese Language, a Master’s degree in Linguistics, and started a Doctorate’s program which I am about to complete.

My professional experience includes 10 years as an English teacher at Cultura Inglesa, 3 years as a Portuguese as a foreign language teacher at UFF, where I was a guest teacher, 12 years as a middle and high school teacher at a Brazilian state school, 11 years as an English and Portuguese teacher at Universidade Plínio Leite, 2 years as a Postgraduation course manager for Anhanguera Educacional, and 7 years as a business English teacher with my own company.

I am also a translator and have translated about 30 titles with BV Books and Films. My best known translation is the book “To save a life”, which is an American contemporary novel for teens that was made into a movie with the same title, currently available on Youtube.

As I mentioned before, I am really excited about being part of OLM and will do my best to be a great teacher, colleague, and friend!
