We are very proud to announce that Our Lady of Mercy School’s “Share the Road – Share the Idea OLMobility project" has won first place in the “Your Ideas Your Initiative” international contest! A total of 77 road safety projects were submitted as part of this year’s contest – involving over 5,000 students from 63 schools and 23 countries worldwide.

 

The main target of the OLMobility project was to reach the school's community, as well as others outside the school population, to bring the issue of change in behavior to the forefront. As pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers share the road with respect for one another and for the laws created for the common good, they become a conscious, positive piece of the puzzle which is the traffic of Rio de Janeiro.

 

OLM students designed a logo and stickers for their campaign, created a video, a Facebook page, compiled an online questionnaire, arranged a walkathon, educated younger children, and even wrote a song.
