On September 22nd the Yearbook Staff visited the Ediouro Graphic Company. The purpose of this trip was having a better understanding of the printing of several materials, amongst them our so beloved Yearbook. During our visit we were able to see all the machinery at full steam, every process that had to be accomplished and the immaculate quality standards that are instated within the graphic company.

Ediouro prints many things, and their machines are capable of printing up to 55,000 booklets per hour. The sound on the factory floor is deafening, ear protectors are required, and still, the sound of the machines is as loud as it can get.  They would use rolls of specialized paper that weight near as makes no difference, half a ton. It was evident they didn’t hold back on quality items, having up to 200 different machines.

At the graphic company we were able to learn the entire process of how the books are made and shipped, what happens with the books that came out wrong and so on. We were also able to see how the book was thought out and the different stages of creation that led to an entire book. We were able to see the special projects area where their special ordered books are made by a group of top end designers.

Overall the trip to the graphic company was an immense help for the YBK Staff to understand better how the production of the Yearbook will be occurring, and that the book will be in good hands.
