SCHOLARSHIP SPEECH

        

        As most of you already know every year STUCO gives out at least one scholarship to one outstanding athlete, usually voted on by team members. However, this year STUCO had many challenges to raise money and we did not have enough for a scholarship. With that being said, what took place in OLM last week was extraordinary.

 

         After the athletes found out we would not have any scholarships, we decided to do something about it. OLM was filled with friendship, union and support. What started with an initiative from all athletes soon transferred to all High and Middle School students. It did not matter what grade you were in, if you participate in any sports, or if you knew the person or not; everyone decided to help out. From this point on, we all know what being a lancer truly is, and there’s no team quite like us.

 

         Thank you so much to everyone who helped us out, in some way we have already won something bigger than a trophy. Therefore, this year the STUCO scholarship became the OLM scholarship. We are giving this reward for a person who is crucial to the team, without her, we would have no outcome. This mobilization has one big purpose: show Juliana Souza how much the whole school wants her to go.
