PEACE RUN

Yours is the first step!

First of all let me thank you for the great time we spent in your school – the welcome you gave us was overwhelming. A big “Thank You” to all of you for the nice preparations and the heartfelt meeting. It was definitely a Peace Run meeting to remember.

I still remember my school years – going through many great changes in my life, but also experiencing an uncertainty with all the problems going on in the world. Like many of my friends I was convinced that the leaders of our world can do what they want and that I am quite helpless towards all the events and happenings on this planet.

Nothing was further from the truth. It took me a few years to understand that each human being - even a child – has a tremendous power to make a difference in our society.

Remember what I told you in our Peace Run presentation: we are all part of a global family – regardless of our nationalities, skin-colors or believes – and we all can change the world around us. Maybe not the whole world at once, but we all live in small worlds: our families, our schools, our communities.

Wherever we are in contact with people, we are in the centre of that small world, which is OUR world. There can we have an impact by giving an example to the world around us. Be kind, nice, helpful and most important, create friendship!

An open letter to the children in Rio de Janeiro – by Dipavajan Renner,

European Coordinator of the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run

Don’t wait for other people to take the first step – take action by creating the world you want to live in! This is the power all of us have. Either we create our lives or other people do it on our behalves!

For me the Peace Run is such an instrument: it gives me the opportunity to travel around the world, to make friends and to learn from other cultures. By passing the torch from hand to hand we realise that there are much more things that actually unite us than divide us. With the Peace Run we celebrate humanity. So I experience in all the places that it has an impact, even if we do many small things in life!

Therefore I would like to thank you once more for setting such a great example by passing the torch from hand to hand. It is an honour for our team to take your wishes for a more peaceful world with us and carry them on around the globe.

Stay in touch with the Peace Run – it is a unique event to connect people. Maybe in a very short distance you will also join the Run in some distant corner of the globe and make people feel that we are a true world family! You definitely did it to us…

Greetings from the team!

Dipavajan (Austria)
