Presidential Election Debate

OLM - 2014

Last year, I reached voting age, so I obtained the necessary documents to vote this year. By coincidence, this year's elections are for president, among other posts. By tradition, in every four years there is a school project about presidential elections. This time, the seniors were responsible for impersonating candidates and organizing the election. I chose to be on the group responsible for the elections (TRE).

Thinking on adding a touch of reality to our mock election, I decided to develop a software that simulates the Brazilian electronic ballot box. Using my knowledge of computer programming, I developed a console application using the C++ programming language, with which I first had contact at iD Tech summer camp at MIT two years ago. The program worked by first asking the number of the desired candidate, then asking for a confirmation. If the choice was confirmed, the program played the characteristic sound of the Brazilian ballot box. The program was a success, and I believe that its presence increased the eagerness of students to participate in our mock election.
