October

ONE MONTH; MANY CELEBRATIONS:

ROSARY MONTH, CHILDREN'S DAY, TEACHER'S DAY, MISSIONARY MONTH, PATRONESS MONTH.                                         by Kátia Souza

October is the one month of the year in Brazil when the Church is proud to celebrate the Missionary Month in an attemptto motivate all the Catholics to exercise their vocation: to be a missionary. Not only is this vocation associated to those who live their countries to go to another land spreading the Word of God, but also to any one us whose faith urges to make a difference in the lives of those surrounding us, in our families, at work, in society, everywhere.

October is also Rosary Month. For the Catholics, an invitation to prayer. A tradition that needs to be encouraged because Mary, our Mother is honored when we dedicate our prayers in the recitation of the Hail Maries. She looks upon us and asks her divine son to be with us at all times. The Rosary reminds us of the great treasure of out faith in Christ; we contemplate the mysteries of our faith. What a blessing to have the means to conversion and growth!

The devotion to Our Lady of Aparecida goes back to the 18th century when through Mary, what was left was given. As a careful mother, she made her presence a reality and made it known through 3 simple fishermen. Mary always comes to fulfill our needs. she made herself appear to those who believed that only faith would make it possible; therefore, the miracle happened.

Children's Day & Teacher's Day: Let the children come to them  and they will make them grow! This is the mission all teachers embrace. No one, except a teacher can ever describe the beauty of a profession that not only  is necessary but crucial for the development of a just and fraternal society.
